The Peewee AA Bulls rolled into Brampton last weekend with one goal - to come home calling themselves tournament champions. After three sun-soaked days full of first-rate pitching, top-notch defense and bats that wouldn't quit, they left as just that.
The Bulls went 4-1 over the weekend, going 2-1 in the round robin with wins over Vaughan (9-0) and Richmond Hill (12-5). This set them on a collision course with league rival Mississauga North Tigers in a Sunday morning semifinal. With rested arms and energized bats, the Bulls ran roughshod over the Tigers in a 15-2 five-inning mercy.
From there it was on to the final against the previously unbeaten Lac St. Louis Tigres, and after falling behind 3-0 and 5-2 the Bulls put up a nine spot in the sixth to take a lead they refused to relinquish, earning the crown with a 14-8 victory.
Bulls pitchers struck out 29 batters over the weekend, and walked only 11. They outhit opponents 61-28.
Congratulations boys!
