Minor Bantam Bulls Finalist in Simcoe

The Minor Bantam T2 Bulls were finalists in the “Simcoe Giants 2015 Minor Bantam Tournament”, going undefeated in the round-robin with a come from behind win against the Guelph Royals and ties with both the Barrie Red Sox and Toronto Playgrounds. 

 

In the semi-finals, Burlington faced the Ancaster Diamondbacks and once again came from behind, scoring 2 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to win the game by a score of 5-3. 

 

In the 3 hour final game, the Guelph Royals prevailed over the Bulls by a final score of 13-7.

 


Burlington Jr. Bulls Win BMBA Tournament in Brantford

This past weekend the Burlington Bulls Junior team took its 3-0 early season record into the BMBA Tournament in Brantford hosted by the hometown Braves. The Bulls drew the hosts in game 1 and were able to get past Brantford by a score of 14-4, led by a balances offensive attack and solid pitching. The next game was against conference rivals the Dundas Chiefs. The game was a close hard fought battle with the Bulls prevailing by a score of 5-3, again solid pitching by Justyn Gallant and Chris Dupuis locked down the victory. The Bulls were given a bye to the semi-final based on their preliminary record and would have to face a very strong Hamilton Cardinal team early Sunday morning. The game did not disappoint as the two teams went back and forth. The Bulls jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning before the Cardinals re-took the lead in the bottom of the second 3-2 as they took advantage of defensive miscues. The game remained that way as the pitching on both sides nullified all offence until the top of the seventh when Jake Gerovac drove in the tying run on a two out hit to right field scoring Greg Marco who one pitch before stole second base. Adam Odd came to bat and put the ball into right field driving in the go ahead run as Gerovac scored. Adam Odd also pitched 6 strong innings striking out 8 batters along the way. With the score 4-3 heading into the bottom half Game 1 winner Derek Zwolinski got the call to come in and close the game. Derek did just that retiring all three Cardinals in order ending the game with a 4-3 Bulls victory. The final was a battle with a familiar foe the Oakville A’s, last year’s COBA Champions and a perennially competitive team. The Bulls rolled Derek Zwolinski back to the mound for the start. The game was a back and forth affair as the lead changed three times in the first three innings. The Bulls were up 6-3 by the third inning and that is where the game ended as Derek Zwolinski went the distance helping the Bulls win the tournament championship and boosting their overall season record to 7-0. With two complete game wins and a save Derek Zwolinski was named the tournament MVP.


Bulls Win BOMBA Mosquito Tournament

The Tier 1 Mosquito team started off slowly with a loss to Oshawa on Friday night, then a tie against London on Saturday morning. From that point on, they picked up some steam and went undefeated for the remainder of the tournament.

Minor Bantam Bulls Finalists In Mississauga Tournament

The Burlington Bulls Minor Bantam AAA baseball team successfully opened their 2015 tournament schedule with a championship game appearance in the Mississauga Southwest tournament. The Bulls went undefeated at 5-0 to get to the final game. This included a 10-0 quarter-final victory over Western Counties and a 16-4 win over Scarborough in the semi-final. The championship game was scoreless going to the third inning when the North York Blues erupted for 6 runs on their way to a 10-2 victory. The Burlington Bulls are now 8 wins and 2 losses overall to start the baseball season.    


Anti-Bullying Policy

On April 26th, the BOMBA Board of Directors approved a new Anti-Bullying Policy. This document clearly spells out a zero-tolerance policy against harassment, intimidation or bullying can take many forms including; slurs, rumors, jokes, innuendos, demeaning comments, drawing cartoons, pranks, gestures, physical attacks, threats and other written, oral or physical actions.

 

The Executive of BOMBA will not tolerate verbal or physical abuse or threats thereof to any of its members or by any of its members.  BOMBA members will be held responsible for the actions of their guest(s) before, during and after game play.

Police Checks for all Coaches

Police Check night at the BOMBA office is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8th from 6pm – 7:30pm.

All Coaches must have a current and valid Police Check on file with BOMBA prior to the season.

Note: BOMBA will cover fees for Coaches who register at this event.
