The Major Peewee Tier 1 Burlington Bulls struck Central Ontario Baseball Association “AAA GOLD…#157; last weekend in Brampton in a convincing style defeating the Mississauga South Twins 14-4 in the final game.

The Bulls got it going Friday night defeating the Mississauga Twins 3-1 in a close defensive battle. Then on Saturday the Bulls faced off against the Mississauga North Tigers. The Tigers finished 1st in COBA just ahead of the Bulls but the Bulls had won 2 of 3 meetings in the regular season. The game proved to be a battle as each team traded the lead. The Tigers had a big 5th inning and lead the Bulls by 4 going into the 6th. However the Bulls bats let loose and drove in 6 putting them up by 2, and a lead they held until the end. Final score Bulls 11 Tigers 9.

The final game was once again a re-match against the Twins. The Bulls took command early and never looked back and won the final handily 14-4.

The Bulls entered the 2012 season with high expectations as they were defending COBA champions from 2011. The team in 2012 had a new look, new players and new head coach Brett Maves. Key 2012 regular season accomplishments:

  • Winner of Windsor Walker Homesites Tournament in May
  • Semi finalist at Mississauga Tigers tournament in July
  • 213 runs scored –average of 10 per game
  • 66 runs against – average of 3 per game

Despite winning the COBA championship, the Bulls journey is not yet complete as they now set their sights on winning Provincial GOLD at the OBA tournament labour day weekend in Oakville. The Bulls go into the tournament a strong contender and will join 11 other teams from across the province to determine baseball supremacy in Ontario.
