Due to new RCMP Rules, we are no longer able to host a Police Check Night at BOMBA. Vulnerable Screening Police checks must be applied for by the applicant and will be mailed directly from the Police Department to the applicant’s home. The cost to apply at any Halton police station in person is $30.00 (applicant must be a Halton resident). To apply on-line the cost is $31.60 as HST is charged. Any volunteers living outside of Halton must apply in the jurisdiction within which they reside (e.g., Waterdown resident must apply in Hamilton). BOMBA does not reimburse volunteers for the police check cost.
Volunteers wishing to coach for BOMBA, should bring their original police check to the BOMBA office where the seal may be examined and a photocopy taken for BOMBA records. The original Police Check will be returned to the applicant. We cannot accept scanned copies if the seal is not visible on a scan.
Please note that although BOMBA is doing its due diligence to ensure that all volunteers have current police screenings, we have been advised by the Halton Police Department that the backlog is 8 - 9 weeks. Therefore, BOMBA may not have received copies of all volunteer police checks prior to the start of the season. Parents are reminded to do their own due diligence in terms of leaving their child alone with any adult, coach or otherwise.
