These are activities run by BOMBA locally for the betterment of our umpires. They are optional but highly recommended sessions. There is no fee, and umpires can attend as many sessions as they wish. Attend as few or as many as your wish. All events are run at our indoor training facility, The Yard.
“Winter Training” covers fundamentals of umpiring at both base and plate positions. It focuses on core skills required for umpires to be successful and look right doing it.
“Umpire Boot Camps” are condensed sessions focused on small diamonds. It is specifically targeted for new umpires working with a Rookie Ball Machine and in Coach Pitch environments.
Winter Training Dates: February 8, March 1, April 5
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Umpire Boot Camps: April 23 & April 30
6:00pm - 8:00pm
All umpires have two sections that they must complete for their registration. The first is the registration for our scheduling system, RAMP Assigning. This allows umpires to get communications from BOMBA and to later provide availability for games.
Follow the link BOMBA.RAMPASSIGNING.COM and register and/or update your account. Accounts are approved on a weekly basis. There is a delay in receiving the list of completed training from Baseball Ontario. Therefore, RAMP is the best way to ensure we stay in touch with you.
The second section is to register with the OBA in their program ONDeck. BOMBA does not have any part of the ONDeck system and can only provide guidance on some standard questions. Help is available from the FAQ section and by contact OBA directly.
All information regarding umpiring certification is available on the OBA Website at www.playoba.ca. Click on the Umpire Tab from the drop-down menu and follow along to 2025 Umpire Certification. A synopsis is included below for you.
There are 3 options available for your camps in Burlington. Camps are 4 hours long. You must register via the ONDeck App to reserve a spot in the camp. Walk ups are not permitted and registration will be limited for each level. You must be present for the entire duration.

Registration Requirements for Level 1/2:
2025 is an Exam year for Level 3 Umpires. Umpires are still required to register online with Baseball Ontario and pay their umpire fee. The modules/exam must be completed in addition to your security screening.
Registration Requirements for Level 3:
Anyone who is returning from an absence of more than 2 years should contact the UIC to see what options are available to you. Various programs have existed within Baseball Ontario to allow for re-entry to umpiring without necessarily having to start at Level 1.1 again.
BOMBA has historically held a meeting for all New Umpires and their parents. This is designed to give you a review of our online booking system called “Ramp”, introduce you to your contacts and to review responsibilities and ask questions.
The meeting will be held virtually prior to the start of the season. A notification will be sent to all umpires via RAMP with the address and information. It is highly recommended that all new umpires attend. Returning umpires should attend the first portion of the meeting for updates and changes.
